You pick up your phone to check the time. 20 minutes later, you're deep in a TikTok hole, watching a guy power wash a driveway. You forgot why you unlocked your phone.
This is "Dopamine Sickness". Your baseline for stimulation is so high that normal life—reading, working, talking—feels unbearably boring. You aren't lazy; you're chemically dependent on cheap thrills.
The old "Dopamine Fast" (staring at a wall for 24 hours) is stupid. You can't stop dopamine; you need it to move your muscles. Dopamine Detox 2.0 is about Resensitization.
Think of your dopamine receptors like a loud club. If the music is blasting (TikTok, Sugar, Corn), you can't hear a whisper (Reading, Coding). We need to turn down the volume so you can hear the whispers again.
The goal here is shock therapy. We are cutting the "Superstimuli".
You will feel the itch. The "Phantom Vibration". This is good.
Now we add things back, but on your terms.
By Day 7, you will notice something weird. Colors look brighter. Music sounds better. And sitting down to do Deep Work feels... doable. You have reset your baseline.
